This year, the Utah County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (UCARES) once again had the privilege of supporting the Kat’cina Mosa 100K, a challenging ultra-marathon that winds through the rugged and scenic backcountry of Utah. This race, known for its breathtaking views and extreme difficulty, brings with it unique challenges—one of the most significant being the lack of cell service across much of the course. That’s where we come in.

This annual event, celebrated for its patriotic spirit and community engagement, saw thousands of participants and spectators lining the streets of Provo. UCARES was there every step of the way, ensuring smooth and effective communication across the event.

This event, has both challenging remote conditions and positions with an easy shot to our repeater system. It offers a perfect opportunity for our team to showcase our capabilities and ensure smooth communication throughout the race.
